| As the weather gets warmer, the temptation is great for children to come to school dressed for play instead of school. Please help your child make wise decisions about what they wear. It is possible to dress for the weather and still dress for school. Students will be permitted to wear shorts to school beginning Monday, April 28, 2008 through the end of the school year. Please follow Thomas Edison's dress code guidelines: Shorts are not to be tight or revealing, and must be at least fingertip in length. Baggy/saggy pants and shorts are not acceptable school attire. No Spandex. Shirts should cover the midriff and sleeveless tops should be closely cut under the arms, not saggy or low. Halter tops and tube tops are not permitted. Sandals and flip flops may be worm to school if the student has socks and another pair of shoes at school for recess. "Rollerblade sneakers" are not acceptable footwear for school. Hats and bandanas are not to be worn in class. Please discuss this dress code with your child(ren). Emphasize that the weather, not the calendar, should dictate whether or not shorts are worn at school! Students not following dress code guidelines will be sent to the Office to call home for appropriate clothing. We have found that students' behavior is influenced by their dress. When children come to school dressed in their play clothes, they are more prepared to play than to sit in class. Please help students use good judgment and dress comfortably, yet appropriately, for school. A REMINDER! Scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades are not allowed at school.

| Weather Watch When severe weather strikes, please watch cable television Channel 6 or listen to radio stations: WHLS (1450) WPHM (1380) WSMA (1590) Do NOT phone the transportation department or the school, because their lines need to be kept open for emergency situations. Please discuss with your child an alternate plan during an emergency school closing. Children should know where they are to go if you are not at home in the event we need to close school.
